The fruit share runs for 20 weeks, beginning in mid June. The fruit shares are meant for about two people over the week. Multiple shares are an option for larger families, or to share with the office.
For the first 5-6 weeks of the season, the shares are smaller in volume, and contain strawberries as well as apples stored from the previous fall harvest. In July, August, and September, the variety and volume are the largest, and the shares contain stone fruits (such as peaches, plums, apricots, nectarines), melons, berries. By late September and early October, each share usually contains several varieties of apples and/or pears.
Some of the fruit you can expect to find:
strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, pears, peaches, nectarines, plums, apricots, melons, and multiple varieties of apples*
* Farmer Dave's is working towards growing all of the fruit available in the fruit shares. The farm currently grows most of the strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and melons in the fruit share, and as the fruit trees mature, more and more of the apples will come from our orchards. Until the farm is able to provide all the fruit, Farmer Dave's will get fruit from local farms in Massachusetts and New Hampshire that use environmentally sustainable methods.
